Client portal (call reporting)

A client portal is a branded, restricted surface where a business's own clients can review the phone calls handled on their behalf. Where an operations dashboard exposes everything — configuration, billing, every agent — a portal shows a scoped slice: usually the call history for the specific agents assigned to that client, with transcripts, recordings, statuses, and outcomes.

Portals are most common in agency and service-provider arrangements: one operator runs phone agents for many client businesses, and each client wants proof of what happened on their line without asking for exports. The portal carries the operator's (or the client's) branding, its own sign-in, and read-only access — viewers can inspect calls but cannot edit agents, place calls, or see other clients' data.

Access models vary: emailed one-time codes, per-viewer passwords, or single sign-on, with viewers managed individually so access can be revoked without disturbing anyone else. Portal sessions are typically separate from the operator's own dashboard sessions.

Why it matters for AI phone calls

Delegating calls to an AI agent asks a client to trust an invisible worker. A portal replaces "trust us" with inspection: the client can read what the agent said, hear how it handled a caller, and see dispositions accumulate — which surfaces problems early and makes reporting continuous rather than a monthly PDF.

Scope discipline is the design constraint that matters. A portal should expose only calls belonging to the assigned agents, and nothing about how the system is configured: no prompts, no keys, no billing, no internal review workflows. Recording playback and transcripts inherit the operator's consent, retention, and access obligations, so what a portal shows should follow the same policy as the underlying recordings.

In practice on ThunderPhone

ThunderPhone's client portals are branded read-only call reporting: each portal carries a name, a logo and accent color, and an exact set of assigned agents whose call histories are visible. Viewers are added by email and sign in with a six-digit emailed code (valid ten minutes) or a password they create; viewers can be deactivated or deleted individually, and portal sessions are separate from dashboard sessions. The interface shows call details, transcripts, and recording playback for in-scope calls only — never prompts, organization settings, keys, or billing — and portals can be served from a custom domain.
